We were allowed to train on the training mats on the Wednesday, so we took full advantage as no one else was around. We had split the squad up in to 2 teams of 5.With one team holding & the other working against them, then changing allowing the other team to build up pressure. We then did some tactical work. This was a good oppotunaty to test out the mat & have a long awaited stretch out. Dispite sweating loads we were well pleased.

We train for a constantly for half an hour, getting used to the condition of the hall with the heat & sweating to see how this would effect us using the chalk. Afterwards we had a weigh in on both sets of scales, weighing us both the same weight 512.5 kilos. So we knew we could have a good dinner that evening, this is the benefit of getting the weight down before we went out to the World Games.

1st pull v`s Chinese Teipai. As per the past draws, which we always seems to give us the hardest starts, again we started with Chinese Teipai. With a few nerves around, we had to get a good drop & started to work, but there seems to be something about them no matter how hard you push against them they never seem to move, as everybody else found out but thats why they are the best.

2nd pull v`s Netherland`s. They had a much more experieced side in this competition, we started to push well against, keeping a excellent shape putting them in trouble but they are a strong side to pull & we had hoped to pull them later in the competition when we get to the cross over stage.

3rd pull v`s Ukraine. This was an important pull, we had to stay focused & control this pull as they had a few big lifts as we saw in previous pulls. We started out in control pushing & waiting building again, staying strong on our legs, when they started to put in their big lifts, we contained them well & then we started to build & take our first points of this competition.

4th pull v`s South Africa. For only having a few months to train they were tight to start team with them opting to go for the very low drop to stop our power but we stayed on our legs wore them down to take both ends as we now started to settle & take control of the situation.

5th pull v`s Japan. Our last pull in the group with both teams weighing in at 508 kilos it should be a close pull. We had a good drop statrted to move them as they worked hard to defend our power, we stayed in control as they tried to attack us, we stayed strong on our legs, waiting for the right time to attack & finish the pull. We had all ready quaified for the cross over so the 2nd end was not important to win, which gave the judge a chance to blow us out to save our selves for the Semi Final.

Semi Final v`s Chinese Teipai. With losing the toss for the Semi Final draw , we had to pull the Chinese Teipai again. We had a game plan, we had to look at the bigger picture, We tried to push against them but it was like hitting a brick wall, we made it difficult for them but we had to go to the Bronze pull off with Japan who lost to the Netherlands.

Bronze pull off v`s Japan. This is what 18 months of hard training came down to, just the former World Champions Japan stood in our way, to get the prize we had been training for. We took the first end with pushing hard & defending their attack. With a few last words from our coach, we set out to take the Bronze medal, we attacked the drop taking rope then defended their lifts, waiting for the right moment to drive on, the call came & we started to move back with every inch we took our dream was becoming reality & we finally took that last step, the judge blew his whistle & we had won the Bronze medal.

Winning the 2nd end v`s Japan. The picture says it all, the moment that will last forever in each pullers memories. The joy & the tears of winning the Bronze medal.

Celebrations, all those hard training nights, seem to have faded away, with just pure happiness, big hugs all round this is what it means to every one in the team, weve worked so hard as a squad bonding together to work as one.

Great Britain "huddle" only copied but never bettered.

Just before  medal ceremony. The moment the medals come out, the first view of the medals is the time the realisation sets in of what this team has achieved.
